Can Stress Affect Your Baby's Gender Or Sex?

I recently had someone ask me if the mother’s stress levels would make her more likely to get pregnant with a boy or girl baby.  This person had a very high stress job and was worried that this would keep her from getting pregnant with the girl that she desperately wanted. I’ll explore this issue more in the following article.

It’s Possible That Stress Can Affect Or Delay Ovulation And Therefore Fertility:  There’s little question that high degrees of stress can affect the hormones that are needed for healthy and regular ovulation.  Excessive stress can make you ovulate late, sporadically, or not at all. Conceiving during your ovulation window is an important part of being able to successfully become pregnant.

But, more than that. one of the most important variables that help to influence your baby’s gender (or whether you have a boy or a girl) is your ability to determine exactly when ovulation takes place and then have intercourse accordingly.  For example, if you want a boy baby, you’re better off having sex after ovulation.  If you want a girl, it’s a bit more tricky because you need to anticipate ovulation and then have intercourse before this.

So, this can be tricky enough even if you have regular and predictable ovulation.  But, if you have high stress levels and compromised ovulation, this process can become even harder.  Yes, you can use a good ovulation predictor (like the saliva models) to help with this, but the process is easier if you have some sense of when you regularly ovulate.

Can Stress Really Influence Your Baby’s Gender?:  Now that I’ve covered how stress may affect your ovulation and therefore your fertility and your ability to become pregnant, I’ll now discuss if it affects your baby’s gender or sex.  To put it as simply as I can, in my opinion, the three major things that influence whether you have a boy or a girl are timing, the mother’s PH, and the sexual positions that are used.

I’ve already discussed how stress can affect your ovulation which can therefore affect your timing.  But, what about the other two variables? Well, I suppose having a lot on your mind can affect how often you have sex and this could in turn contribute to your missing an optimal ovulation or conception day.

So, we’ve covered two of the the three variables.  Now let’s look at the third.  The last question would be can stress affect your PH levels or whether you’re acidic or alkaline?  There’s some debate about this.  But there is some literature that suggests that stress makes you more likely to be acidic.  And being acidic makes you more likely to conceive a girl (especially if you successfully address the other two variables.)

So yes, while there is some literature to suggest that stress might make you very slightly more likely to conceive a girl (because you could be more acidic,) I certainly would not suggest willingly adding turmoil to your life for this cause.  There are other, safer ways to make yourself more acidic if you’re wanting a girl like your diet and douching.  And since stress can affect ovulation and fertility, it probably makes sense to avoid stress as much as you reasonably can when you are trying to become pregnant.

I’ve put together a few websites that take a lot of the guess work out of choosing your baby’s gender. You’ll find step by step instructions, resources for douche recipes and food lists, tips, support, and examples of ovulation predictors / PH testing strips.
